College Rivals Top 25 is out
The preseason poll is out. http://www.collegerivals.org/top25.php. What makes this one special? I'm a voter!!! Can't really comment too much on any of the results because personally, i feel like preseason polls are worthless. In particular, I hate them when people use them as the basis or starting point for their next week's polls. I'm sorry, but some team shouldn't be 18th after 3 impressive wins while some other team is in first with sloppy wins, all because the #18 wasn't rated preseason but the #1 team is still holding on to their preseason ranking. and yet people think the polls are superior to computers??? gimme a break.My picks are probably the worst. Ohio State's not in there at all, which is robbery. But that's based on the totally unscientific contenders system I put together. But i've gotta have something, so this is what i'll use. After about 3 weeks i'll be more serious.Anyone else get goosebumps around this time of year as the season draws near?

Your system may be wacky and certainly isn't a ranking of the best teams, but it does have a certain appeal. I mean, at least you can give a definitive reason for each pick. Can I explain why exactly my 23rd-ranked team is better than the 24th? Not really. So you got that going for you.
And yes, I definitely get goosebumps around this time of year. I also tend to spontaneously grin as the season draws near. I get strange looks, but the college football fans around me understand.
personally i think they should just freeze the final rankings until the beginning of the next season and start from there.
