With the exception of the past few years, Kansas State's program has struggled maybe as much as any. It's been good to see them turn into a real contender these past few years. Unfortunately, the struggles have continued in the Heavyweight Championship realm. Like the rest of the conference, they were annual victims of the Oklahoma squads of the 1950's. The closest they came to the title was a 19-15 bowl game lost to BYU in the 1996 season.
